7 Reasons Why You Should Meditate  Everyday

Isn't it interesting how meditation and mindfulness have become so popular among celebrities and high performers? It seems like everyone is jumping on the bandwagon, and let me tell you, there's definitely a good reason for it.

From my own 12-year meditation journey, I can vouch that it's way more than just finding a quiet spot to chill out and de-stress. If you stick with it long enough, you'll witness that meditation doesn't just handle stress; it takes you to your inner core — to your very essence, where you meet your true self, above all the noise and distractions of the world.

What is the purpose of Meditation?

Have you heard that our outer world is truly a reflection of our inner world? This concept is echoed in numerous philosophical and psychological teachings, highlighting the profound influence our thoughts, beliefs, and emotions have on our experiences and interactions with the world around us.

At its core, meditation serves as a gateway to explore and understand our inner landscape. By delving into the depths of our consciousness, meditation allows us to gain insight into our thoughts, emotions, and patterns of behavior. Through this process of mindfulness, introspection, and self inquiry, we become more attuned to the underlying energy that is responsible in shaping our perceptions and actions.

Here are my top 7 reasons why meditation has the power to transform your life forever!

  1. Enhanced Clarity: Through meditation, we train our minds to develop the ability to observe our thoughts and emotions without judgment, creating space for greater clarity and discernment in our daily lives. As we cultivate this inner awareness, we gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, and our place in the world.

  2. Diminish Fear: As we learn to observe our thoughts and emotions without getting swept away by them, we create space to investigate the root causes of fear and address them with compassion and understanding. Over time, with regular meditation practice, we are able to see our irrational fears and anxieties dissolve, allowing us to approach life with greater courage, confidence, and clarity.

  3. Freedom from Reactivity: Reactivity is a natural response to life’s challenges, but it can often leave us feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and out of control. By observing your thoughts and emotions without immediately reacting to them, we create space for conscious choice and intentional action.

  4. Cultivate Resilience: Meditation strengthens our inner resilience, enabling us to navigate life’s challenges with greater ease. In difficult situations where we may have previously acted impulsively out of fear or frustration, meditation allows us to better control our emotions. This newfound clarity and composure empower us to respond to challenges with grace and wisdom. Instead of being swept away by turbulence, we can gracefully remain calm in the eye of the storm.

  5. Transcending Ego: Meditation has the potential to liberate us from our false egoic identifications and expand our awareness beyond the confines of separation and duality. It opens us up to new possibilities and provides a clearer view of the world, allowing us to operate from a place of harmony that is more accessible in our daily lives.

  6. Tap into Bliss: Meditation can deepen our experience of happiness by uncovering profound inner states of bliss, peace, and joy. As we quiet the mind and tune into our true essence, we connect with a sense of contentment and fulfillment that transcends external circumstances, fostering a lasting and deeply fulfilling sense of well-being.

  7. Meet your Real Self: Meditation serves as a gateway to awakening to our true nature, unveiling a profound connection to ultimate reality or the divine, or to God or Universe. It grants us clarity to see through the illusion of the world, realizing it as a fleeting dream, and guides us to embrace the present moment with vivid awareness.

These are some of the benefits that meditation could provide. What you get out of it depends on a lot of factors that you carry into it.

Although our essence is the same, but still each one of us is in a unique condition. Our inner landscape is different and what we seek from life is also very personal.

In my view, each of us will obtain from it what is right for us, aligned with our highest good and for the greater good of all.

Where to Start?

I would suggest starting with an open mind and with an element of experimentation and curiosity to see where it leads us. The common entry for all of us, which is the core activity of meditation is becoming directly aware of awareness itself!

Cultivating this practice involves simply witnessing what arises in the field of awareness, making pure, present-moment awareness a familiar and accessible.

Now let me warn you that initially, this may feel uncomfortable as for some of us witnessing our inner landscape can be daunting and downright overwhelming. However, don't give up; persist with whatever arises. I promise that as you continue and stay with your practice, your mind will gradually settle in observing its own patterns, and gently leading you on an inner journey of self-discovery and self-realization.
